In 2017-18, the men’s team received the American Southwest Conference (ASC) Sportsmanship Award while the women’s team received Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Academic Honors and one player was named an All-American Scholar.

Johnston spent two semesters as a racquetball teacher at Hardin-Simmons and received her Master of Education in Kinesiology, Sport and Recreation.
