Blinn men’s soccer ties Paris, 3-3

The Blinn College men's soccer team and Paris Junior College battled to a 3-3 tie in double overtime Saturday night in Paris.

Blinn forward Stefan Fevrier Sildor had his first career hat trick, scoring three goals in an eight-minute stretch of the first half. The Bucs led 3-1 at the half but gave up two late goals to send the game into two overtime periods during which neither team scored.

"He was an absolute handful," assistant coach Rudy Roediger said of Fevrier Sildor. "For the last four or five games, he's been playing pretty well, but in tonight's game, he was absolutely dominant for long stretches. Even when he wasn't scoring, he was very effective."

Roediger said Blinn (4-4-2, 2-4-1 in conference) shot out to the lead before Paris scored on a free kick and a late goal to get back in the game.

"There was about a two-minute stretch where we lost our concentration. That's part of maturing as a team," he said. "I told them after the game that I was very proud of them for not losing this one. We held it together and played 110 minutes. We're not going to be defined by a two-minute lack of concentration. You take that window out and we played really well tonight."

Alex Ramirez had two assists and Crispin Tshimanga had one.

Roediger said Crispin Cabrera came off the bench to provide help on defense.

"He has really done some impressive things," he said. "We played quite a few people tonight who gave us some really important minutes."

Blinn goalkeeper Kevin Pena had eight saves in the game.

Blinn hosts Northeast Texas Community College in a conference game Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Rankin Field in Brenham's Hohlt Park.
