Blinn's Valorant team punches ticket to Red Bull Campus Clutch national tournament

 

The Blinn College esports Valorant team has advanced to the Red Bull Campus Clutch national tournament.

The Buccaneers earned the berth with the program's first-ever tournament victory Saturday in Arlington, Texas, where they won the Red Bull Campus Clutch Red River Region title.

Blinn finished 3-0 in the tournament with a pair of victories over the University of St. Thomas and a triumph over the University of Texas-Dallas. Competing for the Bucs were sophomore Austin Ray and freshmen Adam Laamoumi, Hayden Whitaker, Khanh Dewey, and Shawn Fox

The Red Bull Campus Clutch national tournament takes place Friday and Saturday on Nov. 18-19, in Arlington. A full field of competing schools has yet to be determined. The winner of the national tournament will compete in the Red Bull Campus Clutch world championship in December in São Paulo, Brazil. 

Blinn began its run in the Red Bull Campus Clutch competition in early October, going 6-0 in the qualifying round.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
