Blake Whitter begins his fourth season as pitching coach and redshirt program coordinator at Blinn College after serving as the Director of Operations at Texas State University. Whitter also played baseball at Blinn. 

The 2019 Buccaneers finished with a 33-22 record overall and claimed the No. 2 seed in the Region XIV South Zone Division with a 20-15 conference record. Blinn finished second in the Region XIV Tournament after elimninating four opponents. 

During three seasons with Blinn, Whitter has coached 17 pitchers who have moved on to four-year colleges, two who were also selected in the Major League Baseball amateur draft. Bryce Miller and Kasey Kalich signed with Texas A&M University, Kyle Gray signed with Auburn University, Zach Smith signed with the University of Central Arkansas, Cody Collins signed with Houston Baptist University, Andrew Morgan signed with the University of Incarnate Word, Garrett Alexander, Brandon Symmank and Tyler Henson signed with Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Will Floyd, Henry Bird and Cody LeCompte signed with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Ryan Day signed with Colorado Mesa University, Jackson Leath signed with the University of Tennessee, Jacob Millender signed with Texas State University, Richard Gilbert signed with The University of Texas at San Antonio and Judson Schaper signed with The University of Texas at TylerMiller was selected in the 2018 Major League Baseball (MLB) amateur draft in the 38th round by the Miami Marlins and Kalich was selected in the 2019 MLB amateur draft in the fourth round by the Atlanta Braves. 

As Director of Operations at Texas State, Whitter was responsible for coordinating travel, equipment purchasing, scouting reports and meals. Whitter graduated from Texas State in December 2015, earning a degree in applied sociology with a minor in health and wellness promotion and is currently pursuing his alternative teaching certification.  

Before taking over as Director of Operations, Whitter served as student coach in the fall of 2015, helping take Texas State pitchers through the team's daily routines. 

As a player in 2015, Whitter's final season at Texas State, he led the Bobcats in both saves (5) and appearances (27), throwing 42.2 innings. The native of Kingwood, struck out 32 batters and tallied three strikeouts or more in three games. Whitter also played in the California Collegiate League for the San Luis Obispo Blues where he was a 2014 All-League performer and led the league in appearances. 

As a pitcher at Blinn in the 2013 season, Whiter finished with a 2-1 record in three appearances and maintained a 1.98 earned run average in 13.2 innings. 

Before his collegiate career, Whitter was a three-year letterman at Kingwood High School where he was named District MVP, all-state and first team All-Houston.

Whitter is married to the former Ashton Hogoboom of Kingwood, Texas.
