Blinn student athletes received a veteran athletic trainer in their corner when Donna Jones joined the Bucs in 2009. Jones was a key member of the Texas A&M University athletic training staff since July 1990. Originally the sole provider of athletic training coverage for all of women's athletics, Jones witnessed a tremendous amount of growth in athletic training and sports coverage. The veteran athletic trainer was recognized at the 2002 National Athletic Trainers Association annual meeting for serving in the field of athletic training for the past 25 years.

Born and raised in South Houston, Jones graduated from South Houston High School in 1975. She played softball for Texas A&M in 1977-78. She also worked as a student athletic trainer from 1977-1981. In 1979, Jones graduated with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education. Following graduation and her apprenticeship in athletic training, Jones accepted a position with the Houston I.S.D. where she worked for eight years. She then spent a one-year stint as an athletic trainer at Rice University before returning to A&M. Jones also returned to the classroom and completed her Master of Education (Health Education) in 1993.

A nationally certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and a state-licensed athletic trainer, Jones has spent countless hours as an advocate for the health and well-being of student athletes. She was instrumental in the development of the Eating Disorders Protocol for the Texas A&M Athletic Department and has advised and encouraged other universities in the development of their protocols.

Jones has two sons, one daughter-in-law, two granddaughters, Hallie and Scarlett, and two grandsons, Asher and Alex. Her son, Mark, is a contract construction worker, and especially enjoys framing homes and her son, Matt, is a computer technologist for Dignity Health. Her daughter-in-law, Jessica is a pharmacy doctor and manages the ICU unit at St. Joseph's in Bryan. In her spare time, Jones loves to spoil her grandchildren and to sing.
