Eight Blinn football players sign mid-year letters of intent

Eight Blinn College football players are headed to four-year universities this month after signing mid-year letters of intent.

Five of the eight players are heading to Football Bowl Subdivision schools in the Big 12, Mountain West and American Athletic conferences.

Wide receiver James Homan (Brenham) signed with the University of Montana after a sophomore season with 25 receptions for 498 yards and six touchdowns.

"I love the atmosphere and the football at Montana – not so much the weather, but I can get used to it," Homan said. "I should see time as an outside receiver up there."

Sophomore cornerback J.J. Dallas (San Diego, Calif.) signed with the University of Houston after picking off two passes, breaking up 11 and compiling 17 tackles in eight games. Freshman offensive lineman Abdul Beecham (Converse) signed at Kansas State University.

"I definitely got the family feel at Kansas State, and playing for a legend like Bill Snyder will be fun," Beecham said. "There is an opportunity for me to play because they are losing a lot of players on the offensive line."

Sophomore offensive lineman Avery Jordan (Pearland) signed with the University of New Mexico. Redshirt freshman linebacker Trent Soechting (Katy) signed with Fresno State University after leading Blinn in tackles (60) and tackles for loss (11).

Freshman defensive end Christian Robinson (Friendswood) signed with the University of Alabama-Birmingham after earning 25 tackles and 4.5 sacks at Blinn. Sophomore offensive lineman Josh Keith (Denver, Colo.) signed in-state at Stephen F. Austin University and redshirt freshman offensive guard Joshua Cuellar (Porter) signed with Fort Lewis (Colo.) College.

Blinn finished 2015 with a 5-4 record under second-year head coach Keith Thomas. More Buccaneers are expected to sign on National Signing Day on Feb. 4.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 32 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
