Brandon enters his first year as the assistant athletic director after spending 17 years in junior college athletics as a basketball coach of both men’s and women’s teams, as well as an administrator working as an athletic director, sports information director, and eligibility coordinator. 

Prior to arriving at Blinn, Colvin spent a season as the head women’s basketball coach at Lamar Community College in Lamar, Colo. He arrived in Lamar after four years in Mattoon, Ill., where he served as the head men’s basketball coach as well as the sports information director and eligibility coordinator at Lake Land College. While at Lake Land, Colvin was also the chair of the behavior intervention team and worked as a member of the Title IX team. 

From 2014-2016, Colvin served as the head men’s basketball coach and the athletic director at Dakota College in Bottineau, N.D. In this position he was responsible for all eligibility within the department. This included working on eligibility for men & women’s basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, football, and ice hockey. Over his two seasons the teams at Dakota College won two national titles in ice hockey, a region title in men’s basketball, a region title in women’s basketball, and two bowl game appearances by the football team. Colvin also oversaw teams and individual student-athletes within his department honored by the NJCAA as parts of the NJCAA Academic All-American team, as well as being named among the NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year. 

Prior to his time at Dakota College, Colvin spent a season as the head men’s coach at Minnesota State Community & Technical College in Fergus Falls, Minn. He also spent three years working internationally, first with the National Team of Qatar, then with a pro team in Denmark and in Bahrain. 

Prior to his time overseas, Colvin spent two years as an assistant men’s basketball coach and SID at North Dakota State College of Science, where in his first season he assisted in guiding the Wildcats to the NJCAA National Tournament. Colvin started his career as an assistant coach at Southwestern Iowa Community College in 2005 before moving on to Western Texas College from 2006-2008. 

Colvin is originally from Waverly, Ill., and graduated from Bradley University with a bachelor’s degree in business computer systems. He also graduated with a master’s degree in sports administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
