Blinn

Joe Alberico enters his second year as Blinn College’s sports information specialist.

Alberico produces press releases for Blinn's 13 athletic programs, including game write ups as well as news and feature stories. He is also responsible for photography for Buccaneer home athletic events. Additionally, Alberico produces content for and manages BuccaneerSports.com, as well as the Blinn Athletics Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.

Alberico spent more than 10 years covering youth, college, and professional sports for print newspapers before joining the Blinn staff in October 2021.

Prior to Blinn, Alberico was the sports editor and later managing editor of The Banner-Press in Brenham, Texas, where he covered youth, high school, college and professional sports, including the Blinn athletic programs. Alberico was also responsible for the production of still images and produced online content which included sports talk shows and feature productions.

Alberico began his journalism career in May 2011, working for The Daily Journal in Kankakee, Ill., and produced daily coverage of youth, high school, college and professional sports, including the Chicago Bears. 

Alberico has worked for a variety of newspapers during his career, including daily and weekly publications. He earned his associate’s degree in English in 2013 before pursuing a full-time career in journalism.

Alberico is a Joliet, Ill., native. He lives in Brenham with his wife, Elizabeth.
