No. 17 Blinn volleyball heads into Region XIV Tournament as the No. 1 seed

The No. 17 Blinn College volleyball team will be the squad to beat at the NJCAA Region XIV Volleyball Championship Tournament Nov. 2-4 at the Lee College Sports Arena in Baytown, Texas.

The Buccaneers are the No. 1 seed in the tournament after finishing the season 28-8 overall with an 8-0 conference record to claim a Region XIV South Zone championship. They will face the winner of No. 13 Panola College and Wharton County Junior College on Friday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m.

The regional tournament consists of the top eight teams from the North and South divisions of the region. Five of the eight teams in the tournament hold a top-20 ranking in the NJCAA. The teams that will join the Buccaneers on the court are No. 3 Navarro College, No. 9 Tyler Junior College, No. 11 Trinity Valley Community College, Laredo Community College, Lee College, Coastal Bend College, and the winner of No. 13 Panola College and Wharton County Junior College.                

Admission is free to students with a college ID, children under 12, and adults over 65. Otherwise, the cost is $6 for adults, $3 for students and children 18 and under, and $10 for a tournament pass. Programs will be $2 and official tournament t-shirts will be $15.

The top two teams from the tournament will advance to the NJCAA Division I Volleyball National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., Nov. 15-17.
