Blinn suffers 78-53 loss against Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Texas - The Blinn College women's basketball team fell to conference-opponent Jacksonville College, 78-53, on Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville.

Jade Rochelle led Blinn with 14 points as the only Buccaneer to reach double digits on offense.

Blinn fell behind early as Jacksonville grabbed a 28-18 lead in the opening quarter. Jacksonville extended its lead to 42-33 at the half and held onto it for the remainder of the game.

In the third quarter Jacksonville outscored Blinn 23-10 to pull ahead 65-43. Jacksonville continued to stay on top of Blinn in the final quarter for the victory.

With the loss, Blinn's overall record drops to 9-9 and Region XIV record falls to 3-6.

Blinn will face Tyler Junior College for the first time this season when the Buccaneers return home to the Kruse Center on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m. Following the women's basketball game, the men's basketball team will take the court to host Coastal Bend College. Both games will be Blinn College Alumni & Friends and Lettermen games.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 36 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
