Blinn’s big fourth quarter allows Bucs to defeat Paris, 58-43

PARIS, Texas - Blinn College women's basketball resumed conference play with a 58-43 win against Paris Junior College on Saturday afternoon in Paris.

"It was a great effort all afternoon," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach.

With the win, the Buccaneers improve to 8-7 overall and 2-4 in Region XIV play.

Aaliyah Holmes led the Buccaneers with 16 points and four three-pointers, while Ke'Asia Williams posted 10 points, Rayanna Carter recorded nine points, and Jade Rochelle followed with eight points and Kyler Wyatt with seven points.

The Buccaneers took off with a 14-7 lead in the first quarter and built their lead to 23-11 at the half. Paris narrowed in on Blinn 31-25 in the third quarter after scoring 14 points, but the Buccaneers sealed the win after posting 27 points in the final quarter for a 58-43 victory. Aaliyah Holmes helped lead the Buccaneers to victory with 13 points in the final quarter to ensure the win.

The Buccaneers will return to the Kruse Center for a three-game homestand starting on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m. when Blinn takes on Cisco College in a conference game.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 36 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
