Coming off a historic season, a record seven Blinn College softball players are moving on to four-year programs to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Kimber Cortemelia (Lake Jackson), Courtney Ogle (Cedar Park) and Amber Langston (Manvel) signed with The University of Texas at Arlington, Sarah Cedillo (Humble) signed with East Texas Baptist University, Tori Alvarez-Lopez (Cypress) signed with Incarnate Word University, and Kelsey Lowke (Austin) and Lexi Harris (Marquez) signed with Mary Hardin Baylor University.

"This is the most Buccaneers that we ever have had sign with four-year schools in a given season, so we are extremely proud," said Blinn head coach Rick Church. "We couldn't be happier for these seven girls and our program. They played a significant role in our success this year and their hard work and performance paid off."

In 2019, the Blinn College softball team posted a 44-15 overall record, a program-best 23-1 conference record, and finished the season with a No. 17 national ranking.

Cortemelia, a sophomore third baseman, earned third-team NJCAA Division I All-America honors after ranking third in the Region XIV South Division in RBIs (49) and fourth in batting average (.422). She shared Blinn's lead in hits with 73 and doubles with 16, led the team in on-base percentage (.490) and slugging percentage (.613), and was second on the team in runs with 49.

Cortemelia also was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NJCAA Division I All-Region Midwest second team and the 2019 Region XIV South Division Player of the Year.

Langston, a sophomore second baseman, earned first-team all-conference and second-team all-region honors this season after finishing second in the Region XIV South Division with 50 RBIs and sharing Blinn's lead in hits with 73. Sophomore catcher Ogle earned second-team all-conference honors after leading the Buccaneers with seven home runs and driving in 36 runs.

Cedillo, a sophomore infielder and outfielder, claimed first-team all-region and all-conference honors after recording 65 hits and 47 runs in 184 at-bats to maintain a .353 batting average.

Sophomore shortstop Alvarez-Lopez received second-team all-conference honors after finishing second in the Region XIV-South with 17 stolen bases and recorded 55 hits.

Sophomore catcher Kelsey Lowke recorded 15 hits and scored 12 runs in 58 at-bats to post a .259 batting average, while freshman infielder and outfielder Lexi Harris recorded eight hits and 10 runs in 24 at-bats to maintain a .333 batting average.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
