Buccaneers finish Tyler Invite with a 3-2 victory over New Mexico Military

TYLER, Texas - The Blinn College Buccaneers added two more wins to their record after finishing the last day of the Tyler Junior College Invite with a 3-1 win over Hutchinson Community College and 3-2 win over New Mexico Military Institute on Saturday in Tyler.

The Buccaneers increased their record to 17-4 after concluding the tournament with a 3-1 record.

"We played really hard and they put everything they had on the floor," said Kalie Mader, Blinn head coach. "I am very proud of our team today."

Blinn 3 - Hutchinson 1

The Buccaneers started the final day of the tournament with a 3-1 win over Hutchinson by the score of 13-25, 25-21, 28-26, and 25-23.

After starting the match off shaky in the first set, the Buccaneers pulled together to win the next three sets for the 3-1 victory.

Blinn 3 - New Mexico Military 2

The Buccaneers concluded the final match of the Tyler Junior College Invite with a 3-2 victory over New Mexico Military by the score of 25-23, 23-25, 22-25, 25-22, and 15-13.

After falling behind in the match 2-1, the Buccaneers fought hard to narrowly win the next two sets and down New Mexico Military, 3-2, for the second time this season.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the Buccaneers look to remain undefeated in conference when they face off against Wharton at 6 p.m. on the road.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 36 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
