Francisco “Frankie” Espinoza enters his first season with Blinn College’s soccer programs as a volunteer coach. He spent the last two years as an assistant coach for the Texas A&M University women’s soccer program under G Guerrieri and Phil and Lori Stephenson.

Espinoza is excited to be back home in Brenham and begin this chapter learning under head coach Jorden Smith and bring the experience from what he learned from all his mentors like Phil Stephenson (Texas A&M), Michael Meacham (Midwestern State University) and Raul Herrera (Richland College) to Blinn College.

Espinoza was part of a coaching staff that helped lead the Aggies to a Southeastern Conference championship last season. He specialized in coaching midfielders and goalkeepers.

This spring, he spent time as a graduate assistant coach for the Midwestern State University men’s soccer program under Michael Meacham and Doug Elder. In addition, he was a goalkeeper coach for the FC Dallas-Texoma club soccer team under Kyle Redding.

A native of Brenham, Texas, Espinoza had a standout playing career at Brenham High School for head coach Erik Lane. He earned all-district honors in 2003 and 2004 and helped lead the Cubs to the state finals both seasons. After graduating from high school, he attended Bible college and performed Young Life Ministry before beginning his collegiate soccer career. In 2010, as a senior, he played in 18 games for Midwestern State University and helped lead the Mustangs to the Division II College Cup. He continued to play soccer after college for the Georgia Revolution of the National Premier Soccer League.

Espinoza earned his bachelor’s degree in applied arts and science from Midwestern State University in 2015.
