Buccaneers lose to Northeast Texas in overtime, 2-1

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas — Blinn College women's soccer (1-4, 1-3) competed hard against Northeast Texas Community College to push the game into overtime, but fell to the Eagles, 2-1, on Friday afternoon.

Natasha Thiele scored Blinn's only goal in the game to send it into overtime.

Blinn and Northeast Texas played a close first half, but the Eagles managed to score the first goal of the game in the 40th minute. The Buccaneers tied the game in the second half, when Thiele scored a goal in the 65th minute.

Blinn and Northeast Texas held up on defense for the next 25 minutes for the game to go into overtime. The Eagles scored in the 94th minute to take a 2-1 lead for the win.

The Buccaneers will stay on the road to face Paris Junior College on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 3 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
