Buccaneers drop conference game to No. 1 Tyler, 8-0

TYLER, Texas — Blinn College women's soccer (1-2) fell to No. 1 Tyler Junior College, 8-0, in a conference game on Saturday night.

"We took a couple of shots that we weren't able to capitalize off of," said Jorden Smith, Blinn head coach. "Our goalies kept us in the game and gave us opportunities with their saves."

Zoe Madrid led the Buccaneers with six saves, while Kaysi Gordon recorded three saves.

Tyler jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the half after scoring in the 14th, 26th, 37th and 39th minutes. The Apaches added four more goals in the second half by scoring in the 46th, 50th, 66th and 74th minutes for an 8-0 victory.

Blinn College women's soccer will take a break from conference play when the Buccaneers come home to take on Richland College on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 5 p.m. at Rankin Field.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
