JACKSONVILLE, Texas – Blinn College women's basketball dug itself a hole early in the game and nearly came back with a solid fourth quarter but the comeback attempt fell short in a 69-68 loss to Jacksonville College Tuesday night.

The loss drops Blinn to 19-10 overall and 12-7 in Region XIV play.

Blinn was led by Ke'Asia Williams with 18 points as the only player in double figures. Karissa Black scored nine while Bryanna Taylor and Denisha Ford each scored seven. Jasmine Redmon and Brenisha Coleman each scored six in the loss.

The first quarter is where Blinn fell behind a bit, as Jacksonville was able to hit open shots and jumped out to a 19-14 lead after one. That lead expanded slightly at the half as Jacksonville extended its lead to 36-30 after outscoring the Buccaneers by one, 17-16.

It was all even in the third quarter as both teams scored 13 points as Jacksonville led 49-43 heading into the fourth quarter. The fourth is where Blinn put together one last shot at the lead and outscored Jacksonville 25-20 but it wasn't enough as Jacksonville held on for the one-point victory.

Blinn will close out the regular season at home against Tyler Junior College on Saturday, March 4 at 2 p.m. It will be Sophomore Night for the outgoing players. Tyler is currently 13-5 through 18 games in Region XIV play.
