WEATHERFORD, Texas – No. 14 Blinn College women's basketball struggled defensively and those struggles turned into a 72-64 loss to Weatherford College Saturday afternoon.

The Buccaneers also surrendered too many second chances in the loss that lowers their overall record to 2-2 on the season.

"We aren't good enough offensively to struggle like we did on defense," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach.

Brenisha Coleman led Blinn with 13 points as the only player in double figures. Bryanna Taylor, Denisha Ford and Jasmine Redmon each scored eight points while Ke'Asia Williams chipped in seven points.

The Buccaneers dug themselves an early hole by trailing 22-18 after the first quarter and then that Weatherford lead ballooned out to 41-31 at the half.

Blinn outscored Weatherford in each the third and fourth quarters but not enough to come back for the win. The Buccaneers got within four points early in the third and outscored Weatherford 19-18 in the third but Weatherford still led 59-50 heading into the fourth quarter.

Blinn wasn't able to get the game much closer in the fourth but did outscore Weatherford 14-13 in the fourth but still fell by eight points at the final buzzer.

Blinn will play for the first time at home on Monday, Nov. 14 against McLennan Community College at 5:30 p.m.
