Turnovers hurt Buccaneers on the road in loss to Odessa, 80-59

ODESSA, Texas – Blinn College turnovers spoiled the end of the weekend for the Buccaneers as Odessa College took advantage on their home court and pulled away for a 80-59 victory Nov. 8 in Odessa.

Alexus Freeman led the way for Blinn with 13 points and Nancy Warioba turned in her second consecutive solid game with 10 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

The game started out fairly tight in the middle of the first half until Odessa went on a 9-0 run in that half and eventually secured a 47-34 lead at the break. The second half didn't see the Buccaneers get much closer as Odessa pulled away for a 21-point victory.

"We just have to get better as a team," said Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins. "I don't have them prepared offensively or defensively that way that I want them to be."

Jenkins did point out that the play of Warioba was one of the lone positives in the game and said that she has the best motor on the team right now.

"She (Warioba) was able to fly in on a couple of occasions to get a few impressive rebounds," Jenkins said.

Jenkins looks forward to seeing how the girls respond after a loss and he is hoping to see improvement every day.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 29 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
