Bossier Parish eliminates Blinn from the postseason, 10-2

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Blinn College softball was eliminated from the NJCAA Region XIV Softball Tournament after falling to Bossier Parish Community College in the fourth round by the score of 10-2 in six innings on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, the Buccaneers eliminated San Jacinto by the score of 8-3. With the season-ending loss, the Buccaneers finish with a 32-18 overall record and a fourth-place finish in the Region XIV Tournament.

Blinn 8 – San Jacinto College 3

The Buccaneers were able to come back in late innings to defeat San Jacinto by the score of 8-3 and continue to the next round of the tournament.

Kamryn Boucher recorded the win after pitching 6 1/3 innings and only allowing three hits, while striking out five.

Sydney Gutierrez led Blinn with three RBIs, while Alivia Villarreal and Calli Birch each drove in two runs. At the top of the lineup, Abby Olejniczak and Morgan Gray each produced three hits and led the Buccaneers by scoring two runs each.

San Jacinto scored three early runs in the first inning, but the Buccaneers managed to hold the Coyotes for the remainder of the game.

San Jacinto held a 3-0 lead until the fifth inning when Blinn scored three runs to tie the game. Gutierrez sent a three-run homer over the fence for Olejniczak and Gray to score and even the game 3-3. 

The Buccaneers' offense came alive in the sixth inning to score five runs for Blinn to lead 8-3. Villarreal started things off with a single to drive in two runs for Olejniczak and Gray to score. Birch followed with a single for Villarreal and Amy Alexander to score and Tori Alvarez-Lopez scored Blinn's final run on an error.

Bossier Parish 10 – Blinn 2

Bossier Parish defeated Blinn by the score of 10-2 in six innings to eliminate the Buccaneers from the tournament.

Birch and Gabriela Gomez led Blinn's offense with one RBI each, while Lauren Coerver and Tori Alvarez-Lopez each scored one run.

Bossier Parish took an early 1-0 lead that it never surrendered in the third inning. In the fourth inning, Bossier Parish added seven runs for an 8-0 advantage.

The Buccaneers scored their only two runs in the fifth inning after Birch and Gomez hit back-to-back singles for Coerver and Alvarez-Lopez to score.

Bossier Parish scored an additional two runs for a 10-2 lead in the sixth inning to run-rule Blinn.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 36 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
