Stott Carter will begin his third year as assistant men's basketball coach at Blinn College in the 2018-19 season. Carter comes to Blinn after serving as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico University.

Prior to being named head coach at Eastern New Mexico, Carter served as assistant coach for Andrew Helton. During that time, ENMU accumulated 62 victories, saw 12 All-Lone Star Conference selections and saw Rodney Blackmon sign a professional contract overseas.

Prior to arriving in Portales, N.M., Carter was an assistant at Pfeiffer University. During the 2007-08 season, Pfeiffer went 21-8 and finished second in the Conference Carolinas with wins over nationally-ranked Mount Olive, West Virginia State and defending national champion Barton College. Carter also coached second team all-conference guard Robert McGriff.

Before his stint at Pfeiffer, Carter was an assistant at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi where the Islanders went 46-15 during his time there. During the 2006-07 season, TAMU-CC made the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history and played a first-round game against Wisconsin. TAMU-CC led Wisconsin for 31 minutes of the contest before falling in the first round. Carter also coached Southland Conference Player of the Year Chris Daniels. In addition, Carter previously coached at Region XIV rival Kilgore College and Central Florida Community College.

Carter has tremendous experience in the world of college basketball, having coached at the junior college and NCAA Division I and II levels. Carter began his career with Billy Donovan during his first season at Florida. After a NCAA Final Four Championship game appearance, two Sweet Sixteen appearances and an SEC championship, Carter became a graduate assistant on Donovan's staff.
