Buccaneers prevail in 90-80 win over Victoria

VICTORIA, Texas — The Blinn College men's basketball team (8-0) picked up its eighth straight win after defeating Victoria College, 90-80, Monday night. 

"It was a really good game for us and a hard fought win all the way down," said Scott Schumacher. "Our players showed great character to withstand the rally of Victoria. There is not a better way to start the Thanksgiving break than with a win and I couldn't be more proud of our guys."

Kai Tease led the offense with 21 points, while Tristan Ikpe followed with 16. Matt Adams was next on offense with 13 points, while AJ Rainey recorded 12 and Jalin Suber scored 10. 

The Buccaneers jumped on Victoria early to grab a 51-39 lead in the first half. In the second half, Blinn scored 39 points to seal the win and remain undefeated. 

The Buccaneers will begin conference play against Paris Junior College on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. on the road.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
