Coach Schumacher to speak at 26th Annual South Padre Island Basketball Clinic

Blinn College men's basketball coach Scott Schumacher will be a featured speaker at the 26th Annual South Padre Island Basketball Clinic on May 5-6.

Schumacher, who just wrapped us his 27th season as a junior college head coach, will speak twice at the clinic. He will speak about shooting drills and practice organization on Friday, May 5, then discuss the building blocks for man-to-man defense on Saturday, May 6.

"Coach Schumacher has so much knowledge and experience within the game of basketball," said Rene T. Garza, clinic coordinator. "He has so much passion for the game and he is a great person to learn from at this clinic."

Schumacher has spoken at clinics at the Final Four and the Nike Las Vegas Clinic, and is scheduled to speak at the DeSoto High School Coaches Clinic on Friday, May 26.

"I love clinics because it is an opportunity to speak about basketball and represent Blinn College," Schumacher said. "I am very excited about this opportunity because I have followed the South Padre Clinic since I started coaching."

Schumacher just wrapped up his fifth season at Blinn, where he was honored for earning 500 victories as a head coach and now totals 519 for his career. He previously coached at Paris Junior College, Kilgore College, and North Dakota State College of Science prior. Schumacher is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
