Buccaneers efficiently attack Victoria’s zone defense for first road victory, 85-75

VICTORIA, Texas – Blinn College men's basketball was able to show improvement on offense and defense to pick up its first win on the road by beating Victoria College 85-75 Saturday evening.

The Buccaneers were able to attack the Victoria zone and improve its record to 5-1 on the year.

"Anytime you can win on the road it is a very good thing," said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach.

James Harrison led Blinn with 22 points and Jarius Kesee turned in a personal career-high at Blinn with 20 points. LaKendric Hyson added 10 points while Juwan Green and Curtlon Wesley each chipped in nine points.

Blinn came out with an experienced lineup and did a good job of attacking and jumping out to a 41-32 lead at the break. Not much changed in the second half as Victoria tried to keep Blinn within reaching distance but the Buccaneers maintained their lead.

Blinn was even able to outscore Victoria in the second half by one point to roll to the 10-point victory.

Blinn will be back in action on Monday, Nov. 21 at home against Houston Community College for a game starting at 7:30 p.m.
