Buccaneers give up lead in final minute in loss to Lee, 79-77

BAYTOWN, Texas – Blinn College men's basketball played a solid game for 39 minutes but it was the final minute that doomed the Buccaneers as Lee College pulled out the 79-77 victory Wednesday night in Baytown.

The costly loss for the Buccaneers lowers their record to 18-7 overall and 8-7 in Region XIV play.

Jaequan Brown had one of his best games of the season with 20 points. Morris Dunnigan added 17 points while James Harrison chipped in with 13 points.

The entire came down to the last minute as Blinn held a 77-71 lead with 55 seconds left. That is when turnovers and defensive breakdowns played a part in Lee scoring eight consecutive points to steal away the victory.

"This is a very disappointing loss for our guys," said Blinn coach Scott Schumacher. "They know they let one slip away."

Blinn will look to bounce back on the road Saturday, Feb. 10 against San Jacinto College-Central at 4 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 32 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
