Drew Coleman Sr. returns to the Blinn College coaching staff as the Buccaneers' defensive coordinator. Coleman previous served as Blinn's redshirt coordinator, pass game coordinator, and defensive backs coach for three seasons. He joined the Buccaneers after serving as a volunteer defensive backs coach at Texas Christian University.

A native of Henderson, Texas, Coleman was one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in East Texas. Coleman played quarterback, wide receiver, punt returner, and defensive back as he led the Henderson Lions to a district championship. 

After high school, Coleman attended Trinity Valley Community College for two seasons, where he was the 2002 Southwest Junior College Football Conference player of the year and offensive most valuable player. 

After Trinity Valley, Coleman transferred to Texas Christian University, where he played cornerback for two seasons, starting 14 games. Coleman finished his senior season by earning team defensive most valuable player and helping TCU win the 2005 Mountain West Conference title.

Coleman was drafted in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the New York Jets and played seven seasons in the NFL. Coleman played five seasons with the Jets, one with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and one with the Detroit Lions. He accumulated 165 tackles, 13 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, and five interceptions in his career. 

Following his NFL career in 2015, Coleman returned to school to finish his degree in general studies. Coleman now lives in Houston with his fiancé Kimberly, daughter Kaylan, and son Drew (DJ) Coleman Jr.
