Blinn College football edges Cisco College, 27-26

The young Blinn College football team did a lot of growing up Saturday night.

The Bucs (1-1) edged conference preseason favorite Cisco College 27-26, scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter while shutting down the Wranglers in the conference matchup in Cisco.

Blinn won despite four turnovers and two blocked punts.

"What I really liked is how the kids stuck through it," coach Ryan Mahon said. "I think this actually brought them closer. They fought and they fought and they fought through it. We really won this one as a team."

Blinn trailed 20-17 at the half and 26-17 after three quarters, but got a touchdown and then a field goal from Alejandro Quintero to take the lead.

The Bucs got a huge boost just before halftime when defensive lineman Edgerrin Dillard-Williams took a blocked field goal in for a touchdown.

Blinn also got touchdowns from running backs Terrence Keys Jr. and Joshua Berry and a safety from its defense.

Mahon praised the effort by his defense.

"They played their tails off. They were the key to this game," he said. "They were a major factor in this one."

The Bucs will host Louisiana Community Christian on Saturday, Sept. 25. The game will be held at Cub Stadium in Brenham at 7 p.m.
